Open source Marketcetera trading platform 1.5 released

marketcetera_small.jpg
From the 'open source $$' files:

Open source vendor trading system vendor Marketcetera is out today with its 1.5 release, increasing the functionality of its platform.  The 1.5 release comes five months after the 1.0 release and as the economy continues to struggle through a slowdown.

The new release has an improved setup for multi-user installations such that multiple traders can now more easily use the system for their financial market trading activities. From a strategy point of view (which key for traders), version 1.5 includes something called Strategy Studio which enables traders to manage their trading strategies on multiple servers. The system has also been upgraded to provide, real-time intraday position and profit and loss monitoring.
"This environment places tremendous pressure on investment firms to continue to make fast, intelligent trading decisions at ever lower costs per transaction," Graham Miller, CEO of Marketcetera said in a statement. "With the release of Marketcetera Version 1.5 and the benefits of our open architecture and powerful strategy research and development environment, we're fundamentally changing how traders can successfully meet these new challenges."
It's interesting to me to see how the open source model can be used to literally make money for financial traders. With the current state of the financial markets, and everyone looking to do things more efficiently, Marketcetera's timing could turn out to be really good if they can fully execute and deliver a solution that meets traders needs.
